Dennis Carter, the head of a detective agency, and his secretary, Henrietta Rankin, get involved in the murder of a scandal-peddling, blackmailing radio commentator, and evidence point toward Henrietta. Dennis sets out to clear her and also find the real culprits.

The story of Sister Elizabeth Wheeler, who under the direction of Florence Nightingale, assisted wounded British soldiers in the Crimean War. She was later dismissed for exposing the atrocities of poor and shoddy care to wounded soldiers. She traveled to America where she cared for wounded Confederate soldiers in the Civil War. General Robert E Lee himself honored Elizabeth Wheeler for her service to the Confederate Army. She used a surname of Elizabeth Williams in the US because she left England in disgrace for telling the truth.

An innocent man goes to prison for obstruction of justice when his wife refuses to reveal that her father was killed by her mother (and it wasn't suicide). When he is finally released, he meets and becomes involved with a young woman who belongs to the town's influential elite. Once again, he finds himself caught up in intrigue - which eventually leads to his exposing the mayor of the town as corrupt.

Gopal's sister believes that she knows what is best for him. But a series of events causes turbulence in the family.

A famous Saigal musical narrating a strange love story set against 1930s industrialization and worker-management relations. The 16-year-old Prabhavati (Chandarbati Devi/Kumari) inherits a mill and turns it into an extremely profitable enterprise. Prakash (Saigal) is a worker who designs a more efficient machine for the factory for which he first gets sacked and then is re-employed. He falls in love with Prabhavati`s sister Sheila (Desai), who later makes way for Prabhavati who is also in love with Prakash. Her withdrawal distresses Prakash, causing her to bully the workers who then go on strike.
